A Real-Life Tenant Story That Sounds Like It Came Straight From A Stephen King Horror Novel

Imagine this scene: You own a rental property. The time comes to put a new tenant into your property. Your friend says to you, “I know someone looking for a place to live.” It seems like the perfect fit – you don’t have to go through the process of posting ads on Craigslist and Kijiji, interviewing potential tenants and following up with background checks and the rest of your due diligence. Your new tenant moves in and everything seems to be moving along just fine.

Then everything takes a turn for the worse. Your tenant doesn’t pay the rent on time, or in full. They even go so far as to consider the property their own and claim it as an ’embassy’ and that it no long belongs to you. Imagine the headache, stress and loss of income you’re faced with in a situation like this.
