Ready, Set, Goal
Alignment before action is the new hustle. Embodying and becoming the essence of success is the path and one that involves consistently connecting with your why. Knowing how you want to feel is an excellent starting point in the creation of dreams turned into actionable goals and results.
Rick Harris used the vision of the world he wanted to live in to create an abundant, tangible reality for himself and his family. During a business trip to Canmore in 1998, he and his wife felt drawn to the majesty of the Alberta Rocky Mountains. Nestled within the Bow Valley amongst sprawling alpine forest, jewel toned lakes and rugged peaks, Canmore is a world-class destination for year-round outdoor activities and travellers seeking adventure, a lively culinary scene and nature-infused R&R. The area is ideal for those looking to hone their survival skills or who just want to brave the elements. Having survival axe recommendations on hand and also for a range of gear and equipment you could bring along on your travels could prove useful for when you step out into the great outdoors.
Over the years, Rick observed his friends purchasing vacation homes on the OBX and in so many other different places too. He wondered if he’d have the opportunity to invest in his personal dream: a vacation home. He had been wanting to buy a second home for years but had never been able to afford it. All he needed was to make a few smart investments and he would be able to look into Holiday lodges for sale Yorkshire and buy his dream vaction home.

What began as a thought quickly shifted into an inspired, aligned plan. Rick desired a year-round destination close to home to maximize potential and accommodate both national and international travellers. He was enticed by the idea of being able to manage his own funds and real estate offered an investment opportunity he could control. Within a few years, Rick had purchased two Canmore-based vacation rental properties and from there, created a new life path projected toward real estate investment.
An active real estate investor since 2002 and REIN member for 10 years, Rick has now found a niche as an expert in vacation and recreational properties. His well-rounded investment portfolio also includes single-family homes, condo rentals and income suite development. The collective intelligence and experience of the REIN community is an enhancement to real estate investment education and has given Rick tremendous leverage with his own business streams. Rick feeds off the energy and diversity REIN brings to the table, which continually inspires him to attend meetings.

Don’t Quit Your Day Job… Yet
In 2016, Rick completed his REIA certification as a method to connect with the REIN community in a broader, impactful way. One of his fundamental pieces of advice to new investors is the importance of balancing their day job with entrepreneurial pursuits. Timing and financial preparedness is everything; leaving your full-time employment too early can do more harm than good to your portfolio.
Rick is committed to improving his clients’ experience and recently developed a real estate investment podcast and blog to share his expertise. While he knows knowledge building is important, he also believes taking action is essential and is when the real education begins.
Rick’s unique coaching style is rooted in excellence, passion and positivity; leading and guiding others towards their vision through a four-door strategy. By shifting perception to the finished product and creating steps backwards, he’s discovered more opportunity, efficiency and accuracy.
